About Massage Yourself

Massage Yourself is a comprehensive list of self-massage techniques suitable for the layperson prepared to learn a few anatomical words or the therapists to use with their treatment. The book contains a good theoretical background explaining why you are doing a particular technique, and it explains which muscles are being massaged, what the technique is useful for and how to do the technique.

Massage Yourself is clear, easy to read, user friendly and has great diagrams and pictures. Techniques are described for every major part of the body, starting with the head and working down the spine, then working down the upper limb, and then the lower limb, finishing with the feet and toes. It is a treasure trove of information for anyone interested in massage and contains everything you need to know about how to do the techniques safely.

Massage Yourself is divided into an introduction, three parts, A, B and C, and an appendix. The introduction explains the theoretical and practical considerations behind self-massage and an explanation of the benefits of the different techniques. It uses language that anyone can understand once the terminology of anatomy is understood. And all the anatomical terms used in this book are explained in the appendix. Part A. contains 31 massage techniques covering the jaw, spine and rib cage, part B. contains 36 massage techniques covering the upper limb and  part C. contains 35 massage techniques covering the lower limb. For ease of reading most techniques start on a new page or span over two facing pages when the printed version of the book is open.  The bullet points take you through the techniques in a straight forward way, step-by-step and the descriptions are easy to follow. Anatomy diagrams that relate to the techniques are at the start of each chapter and as close as possible to the relevant techniques.
